Once upon a time, there was a beautiful, young girl named Marion. Marion was born to a mother who gave up her own future so that Marion might live. But Marion was happy nonetheless, for her father adored her more than all else.
Marion’s father was a toymaker, quite popular for his clever creations, and her young life was filled with a village’s worth of joy and laughter.
Yet the story of Marion was cut short by sickness, as happened to many in olden times, leaving behind only the toymaker and a sadness as deep and dark as the ocean on a moonless night.
Once Upon... is an innovative new role-playing game from The Yellow Hand, built upon the rich storytelling traditions of old fairytales. Players take the roles of sometimes magical beings who are beset upon by the Gloom, which threatens to make people forget the tales of old, and lose their identities in the unforgiving here-and-now. The game is built upon the proprietary Threshold game system, using d12 dice pools. It includes an introductory adventure, scores of adventure seeds, and pre-generated characters.
